The Gishwati Area Conservation Program's field station, led by Dr. Rebecca Chancellor, has collected more Chimpanzee Cam video. Dr. Chancellor said the newest video features Mabara, an adult male in Rwanda's Forest of Hope. One of his unique characteristics is that he has dark coloration around his eyes which looks like the mask of Zorro. Mabara is also missing his fourth toe on his left foot.
According to Dr. Chancellor, Mabara appears to be one of the more confident chimpanzees and is usually one of the most visible. Our research staff has observed him grooming with several of the other males such as Kajority and Binogo.
The trail he was on is one of our research trails. Rebecca has found that the chimpanzees, along with other wildlife, often use our research trails so setting up the camera trap along these "highways" can often lead to a successful photo or video. You may view the new clip of Mabara at:

It's like he knows he's on camera and posing. Way cool.
